Baby Watch 2k6

Not much to report here, as it appears that Baby Jake is hunkered down for the winter. We have an OB/GYN appointment this afternoon, so maybe old sawbones will see something that will shed a little light on the subject for us.

My wife is miserable. Her back hurts constantly. She can't sleep. She has tremendous acid reflux, but refuses to take a Tums. Nothing that she eats is satisfying to her. (Side Note: I am an incredibly good cook, so it's certainly not my fault.) She is snap-ish to everyone around her, including that poor waitress at the diner around the corner. (OK, it's not really a diner, and being from Jersey, I know diners. But I will classify it as one because they serve breakfast all day.) She cries randomly, but only for a few moments at a time. She thinks that she looks like a Weeble, but I think that she's stunning.

My new prediction: She will go into labor on Friday night and have the baby on Saturday morning, right when tickets to Jimmy Buffett at the Tweeter Center go on sale. I've never been able to get tickets to see Buffett from Ticketbastards before, so why start now? (Side Note: I have seen Buffet 16 times and have never once gotten tickets from ticketmaster. Not once.)

Well that's all from here. Hopefully we'll know something soon...

I am with you, I think prego women are sexy. Just something about them, they really do glow.

Well I hope she has it soon so you can get some relief, oh yea, with a new baby you don't get any relief for the next 18 years!

Please update us tommorrow on the doc appmt. You will be a daddy soon.

Twisted - I am 36, and my parents still get no relief!

Sonya - Will do, baby. I can't wait!

That's nice of you to think pregnant women are sexy but baby I am here to tell you we sure don't feel it...I mean for crying out loud we are huge...i can relate to her crabbiness..i was having temporary flashbacks...no thanks...no more chilren for me...i HATED and I mean HATED being pregnant...IT SUCKED

I predict she will go into labor on that Sat..so you say friday I say Sat!!! hehehe

Greta - For the record, I said stunning, not sexy. She just looks very beautiful to me right now. I always thought that line about pregnant women having a "glow" was BS, but I see it now.

Labor starts Friday, baby will be here on Saturday. It's a mortal lock!

Ohhh, poor thing.

I HATED Tums. Despised them. THough not as much as I hate my esophugus being on fire?! COuldn't chew them or would have hurled. Learned to swallow them whole?! ha ha

Amazing what a desperate prego chick will do for relief?!

Here is the good news to share with Mrs. Founder: Even though her tootie will be torn and streched out to Timbucktoo... the acid reflux, inability to breathe, and back pain will be alleviated once the little linebacker finds his way out ;)

Mac - I got one of the boyz getting the duckets, yo!

NG - Little linebacker is right!

Not long to go now. I have a friend who's also counting the days; the first one is often late.

At this point, the baby may be punching her bladder with one little fist while kicking her stomach with his little foot.

She can't breathe right, her stomach has no room to expand, and she's exhausted.

Be extra, extra nice to Mrs. Flounder.

And...

Please keep an eye out for post partum depression. If this is your first, she might not even know she has it. After 3-5 days, she'll crash; that's not postpartum.

My email is on my blog -- feel free to contact me if you think she may be feeling overwhelmed at any point. She may get it when she stops nursing, too.

Despite how much it's talked about, a lot of doctors aren't very good about treating it. A good friend of mine just wound up hospitalized because the idiot doctor gave her a sleeping pill instead of treating her postpartum depression.

I don't want to scare you and I don't know that she'll get it... don't hesitate to get help if she does, is all. Ironically, new moms feel the need to be mothered themselves. Remember that.

We haven't seen you lately... does that mean baby's here?

CB - I really hope that she is not too late. The back pain is killing her.

Ubie - You hit it right on the head with the bladder and stomach problems. As for the ppd, thanks for the support. I have been told teh day 3 is critical because she will be out of her mind crazy. I'll keep a watchful eye on her and treat her right.

I SO remember those days. It is hard the last few days, but tell her to hang in there.
Also she might want to try raspberry tea, sex or spicy food to get that guy moving out.

Remember what she is going through so when I finally get preg you can coach me through it. LOL!

WOW! He is almost here! Congrats - Jimmy don't got nothin' on Jake! :)

Tell me how this crib convertst to a full-size bed? That is interesting.

TG - I just bought the raspberry leaf tea, and if that doesn't work, I'm going in!

Sonya - I would be honored to be your coach.

Shannon - I just know that one of my boyz will tighten me up with the Buffett tix, but we really want to have the baby while her doctor is on call. That's tonight and tomorrow only, then its another week until he is back.

Ames - The crib converts to a toddler bed, a day bed and a full size. Check it out!

Can't wait to hear! I'm thinking of you Flounder.

But seriously, is this as interesting and exciting as the Oilers getting a goalie and Sergei Samsonov?

(That was a joke!)

You'll soon be able to appreciate what I was hearing today on the sports networks up here. All these hockey players were getting traded and the TV guys were contacting them by phone to interview them. The players were doing the interviews from home and in most cases you could here their kids laughing, crying, hollering or whatever in the background. It was really quite funny and a great shot of reality into the TV world.

Hope everything goes smoothly and wonderfully!
